Product Description

Reduce your water consumption while also determining the rainfall for a given period with the Timex TX7002 rain gauge/sprinkler gauge combo. The package starts with a single 5-inch rain gauge, which lets you calculate the average rainfall during a single shower, a day, a week, or any other interval. It's ideal for amateur meteorologists, gardeners, and other people with a vested interest in precipitation levels. Rounding out the bundle is a 1-inch sprinkler gauge that tells you just how much water you're pumping into your garden or lawn. The sprinkler gauge is a must for people who don't want to waste water but do want to make sure their plants are well hydrated.

Both items are made of molded yellow transparent plastic for durability, and feature easy-to-read numerals printed on the side with ultraviolet fade-resistant inks. And metric users needn't fret, as the gauges feature both inch and centimeter scales. The gauges, which are designed to stick in the ground or mount on a fence post, are backed by a two-year warranty.

Inexpensive rain gauge!

It measures rain, and water from the hose or sprinkler. Fairly easy to read. Easy to insert into (soft) ground. Inexpensive.
Works Fine!

This is the gauge I used to buy at Home Depot, but now their selection does not include this product. So, I like it, it is easy to read, easy to empty, and as accurate as any. The small included lawn gauge is convenient for checking sprinkler coverage.
Rain gauge made simple.

Very good product. Simple, easy to read (naturally illuminated, high-visible yellow), inexpensive and delivered promptly. Doesn't get any better than that.

Made of plastic with a yellow tint, this product has been in service measuring countless inches of rainfall in my backyard. Only after nearly 10 years of being exposed to the elements it's beginning to show signs of fatigue with stress lines evident in the plastic perhaps marking the end of its useful life. For this reason I have returned in search of a replacement and delighted to find the exact product at a good price.

It has been my experience this product is as durable as one could expect for this economical plastic rain gauge combo. Certainly it has its limitations as with most other items. Common sense of use is the key to longevity. I only use the inch scale of each gauge which has been adequately marked every one-tenth of an inch and I have found it easy to read accurately with this scale. The smaller sprinkler gauge has a spike for inserting into the ground however I have found it easier to first insert a screwdriver to create a pilot hole in firm, hard, or compact soil conditions. When our Autumn days and nights begin to approach freezing temperatures I promptly remove it from the wood post I have simply attached to and store for the winter months avoiding any frozen water from expanding and damaging the gauge.

This product has been an excellent value for me with many years of service to back its reliability. I rate as a 5 star product and recommend it.

The 5-inch guage appears to work well and is accurate. The 1-inch sprinkler guage appears to fill up with the minimum of water.
Did it rain last night?

If you want a device that will give you a ballpark estimate of rainfall, this fits the bill. I doubt it is 100% scientifically accurate, but the price is right!
Almost like new

I was pleased when the product arrived so quickly. Then I opened the package and found a crack in the upper plastic housing. Disappointed, I applied some "crazy glue" and now I have the product in use. I didn't think I should bother trying to return it, since the postage cost more than the product itself.
It is a nice item but very fragile!!

I added this to my order to take advantage of free shipping. The package arrived quickly as usual. It is very visible but not very accurate (You get what you pay for). The smaller one broke too easy (You get what you pay for).
Timex Rain Gauge

Reviewer: Sue S. Robertson,
It's okay. I didn't read the instructions well enough to know that it was two sprinklers in one and that the largest part was to be put on a fence. We have no fence so we put it inside the smaller part and stuck it in the ground. I did like the way the bright color showed up in the yard.
Beware of cold temperatures

We have had 3 of these rain gauges over the past 10 years. It is easy to use and gives a ballpark estimate of rain, although the measurement is always greater than the "official rainfall amount" given on the weather forecast. Just be sure that you bring it in during the winter if you live where it freezes. All 3 of our rain gauges suffered the same fate. It rained, the water froze in the gauge, and the gauge cracked and was rendered useless.
